As we had embarked on our Mirador Kids Yoga Teacher & Creativity Coaching Training Journey back in March 2015, our first hour together was a CONTEMPLATION on what it really meant to BE with a child, and how to hold space for that miraculous and magical BEING we called 'child'.
Then it was my turn to share this MAYA poem with my wonderful co-creators and told them how it was inspired by an actual yoga session with children. Maya (one of my brilliant yogini friends) simply came in with her bottle of fairy dust and asked permission to mark our foreheads... then she gifted us special stones she had brought from her journey to Yellow Springs OH. I will never forget that moment of watching her move around the circle with such Poise and Presence. In his book 'The Secret Spiritual World of Children', Dr. Tobin Hart reinforces that ..."children learn especially though their free play with the world...playing together brings out the inner seed, or soul. Play enables children to find and define themselves. Without sufficient free space, especially psychological space, it becomes difficult to play out our inner natures. Play is the holy work of children. And as adults, play can help nourish our own spontaneity, vitality, and simple joy. Do we give both our children and ourselves space to be playful?"
The answer: there is a world of endless play possibilities out there.
Make sure you find some to delight in.
A poem for every child of NOW…
She marked my forehead with her fairy dust
And brought me magic stones…and oh, that smile
just pulled me back again into most dazzling
vortex of creation: the inner chamber of my own heart.
She knows I know one is the center of everything and
one is free in every direction… She thrives to hear me shout
out into the world, “One must cultivate deep reverence
for a child’s presence…and then the Being called ‘ child’
comes forth as a breathtaking force of Brilliance and Delight…
So, please cultivate reverence for every child’s presence.
Fall in love with their silent teachings of Light and Love…”
She also knows I often grow quiet after our playtime together
So all the wisdom we have shared can seep
through our cells into the New Earth…
