Have you yet tried to take a Poem and TURN IT into MOTION with children? Allow each word to move you from inside out into a new space of WONDER? Let us play with this lovely moon Poem written by Kenneth E. Pennigton.
Staring out the window at the MOON up so high
I wish I could touch it If only I had
the means to try...
(Moon Yoga Pose...and mindful tip toeing )
I wish I could touch it If only I had
the means to try...
(Moon Yoga Pose...and mindful tip toeing )
I'd build a castle up so tall
it would reach up to the sky
I'd stand on top and raise my hands
to touch the MOON as it went by.
(Kids can make up a castle pose...)
OR maybe I could build a boat
with sails that could catch the wind...
(Boat pose...Wind movements)
to pick me up off the ocean
and take me to the MOON and then...
(Ocean Breath...Moon Yoga Pose)
I would build a bridge
that would lead to my back door
Anytime I wanted to
I could go there and explore.
(Bridge Pose)
So if you're staring out of a window
of your very own bedroom
with a little imagination
build your bridge to the moon
Maybe you could join me soon.
